Lochhead announces plans for a 'Clyde Summit'

Date: 09/01/2014

Parliamentary lunch for MSPs in January 2014, hosted by Kenneth Gibson MSP, attracted cross party interest. The lunch was addressed by Clyde Steering Group member Britt Groosman of Environmental Defense Fund, Nick Ferguson CBE, Chair of SIFT’s Clyde Steering Group and by Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs Richard Lochhead MSP.

Mr Lochhead welcomed the interest in Clyde 2020 and acknowledged SIFT’s role in the discussions for the future of the Clyde. He also took the opportunity to announce a ‘Clyde Summit’ in April 2014. SIFT hopes to play a full role in the summit and welcomes the Cabinet Secretary’s interest in our work and the potential role of Regulating orders in managing the Clyde fishery. SIFT are also grateful to Kenneth Gibson for hosting the lunch and for his Motion on Clyde 2020 which is to be debated in Parliament on 11th March.
