Aquaculture Planning

Members of the public can find it difficult to understand the complexities of the marine aquaculture planning process. This often prevents local communities from engaging with, or influencing, how their local sea areas are managed. In order to address this problem, SIFT, with the Marine Conservation Society, published a Guide on marine aquaculture planning.  We hope the Guide improves understanding and interaction between the aquaculture industry and coastal communities, and gives the industry greater ‘social licence’, so that it can co-exist more harmoniously with other stakeholders.
